Lucca makes the perfect base for discovering Tuscany, just 30 minutes from Pisa airport and the beaches of Viareggio and Torre del Lago. Florence too is within easy reach - just 1 hour away by bus.

Lucca is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved Romanesque cities in Europe, surrounded by its distinctive Renaissance walls. With a height of thirty-nine feet and a circuit of two and a half miles, they are the most impressive city fortifications in Italy. Today they offer the perfect place on which to enjoy a cycle ride or comfortable walk along its wide promenade, lined with trees, whilst taking in the views of both the city and the surrounding hills.

	Everything on your doorstep! It is possible to stay in Lucca without a car as all amenities are within easy walking distance in the largely pedestrianised centre and many people enjoy hiring bikes from the local hire shops. There is a marvellous bus and train service to all of the main destinations for very reasonable ticket prices
